Toronto Maple Leafs vs Boston Bruins Game Recap
The Toronto Maple Leafs had a perfect opportunity to get 2 points out of the Boston Bruins. The Bruins had not won a game at home since the Winter Classic back on New Year’s Day. They were starting Tim Thomas, who had 6 straight losses coming into the game, and had been struggling for most of the season. All the stars showed perfect alignment to get 2 points.
What did they get?
They got the old Tim Thomas. Thomas was brilliant making 24 saves throughout the game; most of them highlight reel saves. The Leafs had 3 breakaways in the game, none of which got by Thomas. Combine that with the Shoot out, and Thomas stopped 6 breakaways total in the game and looked much like the 2009 Goaltender we all saw win the Vezina Trophy.
Anton Stalberg and Tyler Bozak did the scoring for the Leafs, and newcomer Luca Caputi, who was acquired at the trade deadline, registered his first career point, an assist on Tyler Bozak’s goal.
J.S Giguere made 24 saves for the Leafs.
The Leafs have now lost 4 in a row, and get back to action this coming Saturday night when they’ll face provincial rivals the Ottawa Senators.
