Anaheim Ducks update
The Anaheim Ducks have kicked off 2009 with a shootout loss to Philadelphia and a shutout win over the Coyotes last night. Anaheim is in the midst of playing a string of seven out eight games at home, and the lone road contest is a quick trip to L.A. to face the Kings on January 8.

Despite Jean-Sebastian Giguere being named starting goalie for the Western Conference All-Star team, it was Jonas Hiller who starred in net against the Coyotes. Hiller turned aside 29 Coyote shots in posting his third shutout of the season.
Chris Pronger and Bobby Ryan had Anaheim’s goal. Both goals were scored on the power play.
Corey Perry did not dress against Phoenix as he was serving the first of a four game suspension for a vicious elbow to the right ear of Philadelphia’s Claude Giroux in Friday’s shootout loss.
Duck’s George Parros who has been growing his hair long with the intention of donating it to kids who need wigs because of cancer treatments had his hair cut on Monday. His hair was donated to the Childhood Leukemia Foundation.
PROSPECT UPDATE: Eric O’Dell. Anaheim’s first round pick in the 2008 NHL entry draft was named Ontario Hockey League Player of the Week for the week ending January 4. O’Dell had five goals and three assists in five games last week.
Nicolas Deschamps. Anaheim’s second round pick in 2008 has 14 goals and 21 assists in 37 games with Chicoutimi of the QMJHL.
