Coyotes trampled by Sabres
The Phoenix Coyotes suffered a 7-2 deficit Monday against the Buffalo Sabres. The Sabres took three from Ilya Bryzgalov in the first 24.01. The Coyotes were out shot by the Sabres 10-4 in the first period.
Coyotes captain Shane Doan brought Phoenix back in the game to 3-1 in the second period, but Buffalo returned the favor almost immediately. Backup goaltender Jason LaBarbera gave up one to Jason Pominville, who had two goals and an assist. LaBarbera allowed four goals on 18 shots.
The seven goals allowed were the most goals allowed by Phoenix in one game this season. However, forward Radmin Vrbata extended his point streak to five games by scoring his team-high 16 th goal of the season.
