Phoenix Coyotes vs Detroit Red Wings Recap
It was a close call as the Phoenix Coyotes’ captain Shane Doan nearly gave Detroit the winning goal after a penalty Tuesday night. Instead, Doan ended up winning the game as the Red Wings blew another late lead.
Doan scored in overtime after Phoenix scored twice in the final 90 seconds for a 5-4 victory. Detroit took a 4-2 lead with 4:38 left while Doan was in the penalty box. The Coyotes tied the game at 4 with goals from Ed Jovanovski and Keith Yandle. Doan also added three assists as Yandle scored twice and Scottie Upshall added a goal and an assist. Goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov had 33 saves.
Detroit’s Niklas Kronwall returned after missing 30 games with a knee injury while Phoenix left wing Daniel Winnik missed his third game with an upper body injury.
