Blackhawks winger stirs up controversy

Media outlets are buzzing after the Blackhawks faced the Canucks Saturday. The buzz isn't about their 5-1 deficit, but some choice words exchanged between players. In the first period of Saturday’s game, Hawks winger Andrew Ladd got the best of Canucks forward Ryan Kesler. The fight stirred up some anger from the Canucks forward and the tension dates back quite some time.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Kesler is still angry about a hit by Ladd during last season’s Western Conference Semifinals. Kesler said of Ladd on Vancouver radio station Am-1040, “He’s a coward and that’s the way it is. It started last year in the playoffs. He hit me, cross-checked me in the face when I wasn’t looking. At least he was man enough to hit me when I was looking this time.”

The Hawks will face the Canucks once more in the regular season on March 5 at the United Center.
